	Visit beautiful Sri lanka... Topography Sri lanka is a small tropical island with remarkable variations. The topography varies from the coastal plains with palm fringed sandy beaches to the central hill country of over 2000 meter elevation.   CLIMATE The temperature varies between 30 0c  and 22 0c in the low country and between 20 0c  and 10 0c in the hill country. The average rainfall is about 2000mm but there is wide variation, with the south west wet zone receiving much heavier rainfall than the north east dry zone.  PLACEMENT OF INTEREST Sri lanka is consists with beautiful beaches, hills, streams, waterfalls, national parks, and wild life to the ancient cities, archeological monuments and pilgrimage centers etc.   BEACHES... There are numerous fine natural beaches all round the country. The most popular ones are Mt .lavinia, Narigama, Unawatuna, Polhena, Tangalle bay, Parsikudah, Trincomali, Nilaweli, Casurina and Negambo etc. WATERFALLS 103 streams are arise from the central country to the sea. Which streams are consists with number of beautiful waterfalls. Largest waterfall is the Bambarakanda and there are more other beautiful natural waterfalls like Diyaluma, Lakshapana, Dunhinda, Rawana ella, Bopath ella and Rathna ella etc. HOT SPRINGS There are natural hot spings at Kanniyai, Rugam, Maha oya, Komana and Bibile. FAUNA AND FLORA Even though Sri lanka is a Small country in Area, It has big Variation in Natural fauna and flora. There are 628 vertibrates (84 mammals, 379 birds, 133 reptiles, 32 amphibians), 900 species of fish. Among them 10 mammals, 21 birds, 70 reptiles, 15 amphibians and 17 fishes are endemic. There are national parks(Yala, Udawalawe) and Dehiwala zoo and Pinnawala elephant orphanage to see this animals easisy and without any risk. There are more than 3000 plants in the Island and 25% of them are endemic. The richness of the flora can be seen at the Peradeniya botanical garden, Hakgala garden, Hortan plains, Sinharaja forest etc. ARCHEOLOGICAL MONUMENTS You can visit two main Historical places, Anuradhapura (5th century BC) and Polonnaruwa (11th century). Rather than that Sigiriya fortress and Dambula cave temple can be visited. GEMS In the past Sri lanka was named as “Island of gems”. City Rathnapura is a famous area for visit the gem museums and shops for buy gems.
